Rajkot Gaming Zone Fire Claims Lives of Newlyweds and Bride's Sister

The tragic incident adds to 28 fatalities; investigation underway?

In Rajkot, Gujarat, a tragic fire at a gaming zone took the lives of 28 people, including a newlywed couple hailing from New Delhi and Ahmedabad.

Akshay Dholaria, with his wife Khyati and sister-in-law, visited the TRP gaming zone to relax after their wedding celebrations. Tragically, a massive fire broke out, engulfing the facility.

Akshay, 24, residing in Canada with his parents, traveled to Rajkot to marry 20-year-old Khyati. Their court marriage took place just the previous Saturday, merely a week before the tragic incident unfolded.

Despite a grand wedding ceremony planned for later in the year, their bodies were tragically consumed by the fire, leaving them unrecognizable. While Akshay's body could be identified through the ring he wore, the remains of Khyati and Harita have been forwarded for DNA testing to ascertain their identities.

The TRP gaming zone was bustling with visitors attracted by a weekend discount offer, with tickets priced at just ??99. Initial suspicions suggest the fire may have been sparked by a short circuit, though officials maintain that the precise cause will only be determined following a thorough investigation.

Officials revealed that the amusement center operated without a no-objection certificate (NOC) for fire clearance and was equipped with only one exit, raising concerns about safety standards and regulatory compliance.

The owner and manager of the TRP game zone have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident. Fire officials have stated that the exact cause of the massive blaze has yet to be determined, underscoring the ongoing investigation into the tragic event.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi has instructed the Special Investigation Team (SIT), tasked with probing the fire tragedy, to expedite their investigation and submit their report as soon as possible.

Mr. Sanghvi stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested details about the incident from the Chief Minister and has emphasized the need for strong action against those responsible for the tragedy.
