A Man Jumped On The Engine At Jhansi Station

On Friday, Police said, an unidentified person died after suddenly jumping onto the engine of a Goa-bound train in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi.

The person allegedly jumped from the tin shed of the platform after the train entered Platform 1 of the railway station. Visuals showed the person's body burning after coming in contact with the Goa Express's overhead electrical equipment.

Chaos ensued at the Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi Railway Station as the Railway Police launched efforts to retrieve the body from atop the 12780 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Vasco Da Gama train. The train service remained affected at the Jhansi railway station for 45 minutes. After the overhead electrical line was shut, the body was retrieved and sent for the post-mortem and the further medical procedures.

Railway Police Circle Officer(PCO) Naeem Mansuri said the victim could not be identified but seemed to be aged around 40 to 45 years.

One-Day Menstrual Leave For Students In Sikkim University

According to a notification, on Saturday, 07 December 2024, Sikkim University has allowed female students one day of menstrual leave per month.

On December 4, Laxuman Sharma, the Sikkim University Registrar issued the notification following a representation by the Sikkim University Students' Association.

The Registrar of the Central University said, "The Vice-Chancellor has been asked to allow one-day menstrual leave in a month for female students of Sikkim University except during university exams."

He said the leave given to the female students will be adjusted within the mandatory 75 percent attendance criteria of the classes held in a semester for examination purposes.

Delhi Businessman Shot Dead

On Saturday morning, 07 December 2024, a Delhi businessman was allegedly shot at by two bike-borne men in the Farsh Bazar area of Delhi's Shahdara district.

Officials said the incident occurred in the morning when the man, identified as Sunil Jain, was returning home on a scooter with a friend after a morning walk at the Yamuna Sports Complex. According to the police, at least seven to eight rounds of bullets were fired.

The victim was a resident of Krishna Nagar. He owned a utensils business, the police said.

According to his family, Jain did not have any rivalry with anyone, the police added.

Jain's friends, with whom he used to walk in the morning, told NDTV that the shooters initially told the victim that his phone had fallen off. They then asked him his name.

Within seconds, one of the accused got down from the bike and opened fire.

"Jain told the accused not to shoot at him. Everything happened within two minutes...The shooter's face was covered," the friends said.

The accused are currently on the run.

"The crime team has reached the spot. Further investigation is going on," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, said.

In another incident, a fight between neighbours over 'flushing' a common toilet turned deadly in Delhi's Govindpuri area. The accused, Bikham Singh, stabbed his neighbors with a kitchen knife.

According to the police, three people were injured - out of which one person, identified as Sudheer, has died.
